Ch Shiningwater Snow Diamond
AKA 'Poppet'
1 year old in photo
Poppet has been a real surprise. I kept her only because she was white and with good hearing and I wanted to be sure of having a successor to my white queen Ariadne (now retired). She was small, timid and not especially typey. Somehow in the next three months, Poppet turned into a swan - her ears grew, her muzzle lengthened and shows beautiful definition, her temperament changed completely and she became an adventurer! She has grown and is now an excellent size for a girl, has great length of body and a wonderful long tail. She also has an excellent hard muscular body feel, very appropriate to a breed descended from working cats. And where did that coat come from? Poppet is extremely friendly with a loud motor! And she loves our dog Evie. She's also turned out to be an awesome mother even by Shiningwater standards (most of my girls are great mothers). Poppet has big kittens (both boys and girls), delivers them easily, has milk for Africa, and a high percentage of them are typey as well. What more could you ask of a queen?

Stockings is from my stud boy Harvest. She has a fantastic temperament and loves to spend time with humans. She also has really nice type for her outcrossed pedigree. She is quite a small girl, but turns out to be very good at having kittens. Stockings has now had two litters for me (the second a private arrangement with Cowboy that she did not consult me about beforehand), delivered large litters both times easily, has heaps of milk and is an all round excellent mother. I only wish she wasn't quite so fertile - she is is on heat again with kittens only three weeks old... She and Poppet will be cardiac ultrasounded (and I will get her hips tested) when their current kittens have moved on.
There's a reason why Adele looks so like Stockings - both are sired by Harvest. I've kept Adele because Ligeia, her mother, is now spayed and Ligeia was such a fantastic mother that I really needed to keep a female from her line. And Adele is very pretty! I am not sure how she will develop size wise as she had her first heat at 4 1/2 months and those early calling girls don't always get as big as later developing girls. But we will see. Adele is one of two queens that are not actually Shiningwater breeding queens- both she and Penny are the (new) start to a joint breeding programme with my dear friend Liz Currie under the Kittycourt prefix.

Penny is our other Kittycourt queen - from my good friend Soozn Grindell (Mainelymagic Maine Coons) - a beautiful red tabby poly girl with the most amazing temperament. This girl is just a purr machine. Nothing fazes her and she loves a cuddle. She has size in her lines and looks as if she too will be a big girl, judging by the rate she is growing at the moment. Liz and I are very excited about this new addition to our breeding programme!
