Ancient "Herstory":  Born in Auckland in 1960, Gloria's a fourth generation New Zealander of English/Scottish descent. The youngest of 4 children, she was a good student, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Auckland in 1982.  She worked in the Marketing Department of a multinational office equipment company before cutting loose to travel in 1985. Based in London, she travelled throughout Europe, missed the midnight sun in Scandinavia (because it was cloudy - would you believe it???!!!), but witnessed the sun setting behind the pyramids in Egypt.

All good visas expire.  Home again in 1987, she set about developing her career.  In between times she enjoyed   excursions to Malaysia, Thailand, Australia, Hawaii and Fiji, and in 1994 gained a Graduate Diploma of Marketing. 

Recent "Herstory": 1999 saw her resign from her marketing job of the past 13 years and take time out in Brisbane, Australia for  7 weeks.  What a liberating experience !  So much so that Gloria refused to take the rest of the year seriously...*g*.  After a further 5weeks of holiday on her home turf she finally returned to the workforce - this time as a clerical temporary worker with delightfully low stress levels. It was too good to last !

New Millenium, New Era (or is that Error???):   January 2000 arrived bringing with it a contract management role in local government a million miles away from marketing.  *Bliss*   No sales figures !  No overbearing preoccupation with profits !  But come June, Gloria had had her fill of politics.  She resigned to seek greener pastures in a less machiavellian environment. 

Since July 2000 she's been gainfully employed in a clerical role for a major telecommunications provider.  She's grown accustomed to being permanently wired to receive calls via landline and mobile, voicemail, email and any other kind of mail (that's "mail" not "male" btw... *g*).

Her challenge for 2001 is to learn how to enjoy leisure time without feeling the need to be constantly planning or working on home renovations and gardening !  There has to be more fun in 2001 !
