Whaiora Homecare
offers Home Based Support Services to promote and maintain the
independence of people who have been assessed as having a disability
or ‘health problem’. The former services of Home Support and
Attendant Care, has all ‘come under the umbrella of Home Based
Support Services (July 1999).
PHILOSOPHY:
“To make a
difference in the lives of people with disabilities, in a way which
contributes to their dignity~ safety and inclusion in everyday life
(in the community).
Home Based Support
Services (HBSS), form the base of Disability Support Services to
people over 65 and under 65 years, with disabilities whom we believe:

have a light to remain in their own home for as long as it is
their wish.

have the light to a service that respects their independence
and dignity and self esteem.

(that family/whanau of the clients), are entitled to have
services which complement and enhance their support.

(that services should be supplied in a manner), that
acknowledges clients cultural and spiritual values.

that staff, should be suitably selected, matched accordingly,
monitored and supported by the employer.
AIM
To provide a quality
service to all Client’s, so that they are able to maintain maximum
independence and optimum quality of life.
OBJECTIVES

To practice fair employment policies resulting in the
employment of suitable and satisfied staff.

To maintain organisational standards through provision of
planned appropriate staff orientation and ongoing staff development
programmes.

To ensure the provision of culturally appropriate care to the
clients satisfaction.

To monitor the quality of the service through a planned
quality assurance programme.

To manage the finances to meet budgetary constraints.

To meet MOH service standards.
