2004:
The year kicked off well with a highly successful fund raising effort at the Howick TASTE OF AFRICA FAIR. We say a special thankyou to Mogie and Poobie Pillay, Deon Thuynsma and Patricia Kramer who did all the organizing before Neil and Rosemary arrived to find nothing to do but smile at the customers. We raised more than $300.
Another success was the raffle of a TV/Radio, donated by Sue Greenstreet of Leigh. That brought in another $172.
With regular monthly payments coming in from two trustees we can happily report that the total owing to Pacific Network Cargo is down from the original $2,689.99 to $522.
At the same time this year has reflected the generosity of many donors so that we have already met our next target of 100 cartons (5000 books) waiting at Grace Removals Depot, Auckland, to be shipped to South Africa as soon as funds allow. Books have come from Waikera School, Jim Palmer of Moerewa, Warkworth, Leigh and Kumeu Libraries and other sources, some old some new.
In the last few days an anonymous donor in Dunedin has come forward with a gift of 200 NEW books and on top of that $100 towards the shipping of these volumes. We are thrilled.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP PAY FOR THE SHIPMENT AND ASSURE THAT OUR WORK CONTINUES CONTACT US
All money goes towards shipping costs, as all other work is voluntary, and the books and storage are gifted.
NZ$1 sends 2 books. NZ$50 sends 100 books. NZ$100 sends 200 books. Thank you for your support.
