Maria Cutbush, 2 June 1841 at Brede, SSX. They emigrated to New Zealand,
arr in Nelson 8 Feb 1842 on the 'Mary Ann'.
Their dau Mary Ann, said to be the 1st white child born in Nelson 8 March 1842 marr Henry Eglinton 11 May 1859 at St Peters Church, Wellington. He was a butcher. Dinah Noakes also born in Nelson 2 Apr 1844, d 2 Jan 1917 in Greytown m George Henry Knapp 13 April 1863. He died in Greytown 27 May 1904. They were my gt grandparents. Isaac Noakes b 22 Feb 1847, bap Methodist Church, Auckland, 7 Mar 1847. Died 30 Apr 1854 aged 7. Buried St James Churchyard, Lower Hutt. Emily Noakes chr 30 Aug 1848 in Bay of Islands and d 1907 marr Richard Alfred Wakelin (known as Alfred) 8 June 1867. Maria Noakes b 12 Jan 1850, d 2 Dec 1929 at New Plymouth, marr John Rowe, overseer, 19 June 1867. Elizabeth Jane (known as Jane) Noakes b 16 Oct 1851 m (1) William Vincent Ridley 15 Oct 1852 at St Lukes Church, Greytown. (2) Michael Ryan. Michael Ryan remarried 1886 to Elizabeth Oetgen after death of Jane. William David Noakes b c1852, d 29 Sep 1884 At Morrisons Bush, Greytown. He is buried in Greytown Cemetery with parents. Robert Noakes went to NSW and married his cousin, Alice Eleanor Baker. Robert died Uralla, NSW, 20 Mar 1915. Alice d Uralla 26 Nov 1926. Robert and Alice had son, Ray Victor Noakes who got polio when a child and got around on a large tricycle. Ray was born 1901, marr Esther, died in Australia. |
