During the years I have run this web site I have received many requests for information on orchids, orchid culture, and orchid related matters. Most of these questions involve basic matters, and as they will also have a wider interests, the questions and answers are published here. The web addresses of the corespondents has been omitted for confidentiality, although the location is indicated where known

The internet covers all parts of the world, and different plants are grown under many differing cultural conditions. Of necessity the answers are general, but will provide information which should be of assistance. If you have cultural questions it is desirable to obtain local advice. Contact a local orchid society or attend a show which most societies run during the year. Talk to local growers; most orchid growers are happy to pass on their knowledge and experience and you will gain the advantage of experience under local conditions. The advice is based on bark based culture or slab culture where indicated. Culture under artificial lights is not covered. Selected material has been lightly edited where appropriate. . HELP I have run and maintained this site since May 1998. It is totally non commercial. I want it to be available to all orchid growers, but need your help. The success of the site with its increasing traffic, and the change in internet services many of which are now being charged for are increasing the cost of maintenance. I do not want to make this a pay for use site, but I need asssitance to meet the increasing financial cost. To continue running this site, and if it is to be expanded, I need some financial assistance to help pay the expenses that will be involved, as there is a limit to what I can do from my own resources..
