INTRODUCTION The aim of this series it to present in a conscise form basic information on the growing of these popular orchids. Because most growers do not have the opportunityh of seeing these plants growing in their natural habitatls, and without having access to a major herbarium of specialist orchid institution extensive use has been made of published material. The various articles are fully acknowledged and indentified in the text. All references can be usefully referred to for additional material, and many contain excellent colour photographs. The Orchid Digest in particular has excellent colour photos, both of the plants and of many habitats. I beleive this series probvides significant material which is not realily available to most growers, and as such should provide considerable material for the successful culture of these orchids.
