Anthony Buckley (UK) comments on our last issue on GRACE.
The concept that there's not a thing anyone can do 'to be saved' has massive
implications, implying that we are loved by God whatever we do.  I sense
that's absolutely true, not least because that is how Jesus describes God,
but also that there's a secret behind the idea of RECEIVING God's Love.
My feeling is that God's Love is like the sun on a freezing day:  One may have
the choice to either shiver in the shade, or come out into the sun's warming
rays. The sun is always shining, whether or not we know it. That is an irritatingly
glib idea, of course, because often the sun is hidden by clouds for we
humans, so we can't walk into the sun, however much we strive to:
Genetically-caused illnesses such as constant pain, clinical-depressions,
blindness etc.  So, we cannot judge others.

We can wonder whether Christ temporarily lost sight of The Father
when, in pain, he cried, "Father, why hast thou deserted me", and
whether the thief beside him Saw or was simply Led to paradise by
Christ. What we do have as evidence for the reality of 'the sun' (God &
Heaven), are the NDEs and 'After Death Communications' (unsought
contacts from those who have left this earthly life). That does all point
to Christ having created a Way back to the source of all the creation.
So, however hidden the sun may become at times in our lives, we
should strive to keep our feet treading in the direction we last glimpsed it.
Appreciating the goodness of The Shepherd is a fine beginning...
