Who We Are

On The Rock is an orthodox and evangelical church moving in Pentecostal Power.

Janet and Chris Barraclough founded On The Rock in 1996 after hearing God's call to minister to the visitors and residents of Queenstown. Meetings are informal and cafe-style including Communion, Worship & Preaching, so that churchgoers and unchurched alike can feel comfortable coming to experience intimacy and presence of God.

The center is located in Queenstown at 7 Viscount Lane. We desire to provide relevant ministry to the world through Queenstown's travelling population.

While Queenstown's permanent population sits at approx 19,000, half of these are absentee landlords. Combining that with the majority of the workforce on temporary work visas and the town hosting 2.8 million visitors a year. This is a truly a unique opportunely from the church's doorstep

Doing The Stuff

Our vision is very much for a Missional Community for travellers and backpackers, at the same time a training place within the community. We run a school of supernatural ministy, using the Bethel of Redding CA, curriculum. We meet in a cafe style setting where hospitality is very much part of the sevice. We aim to finish at 11:55am, but tea & coffee remain available afterwards.

If for any reson you need to leave early please feel free to do so without embarrassment. We understand the need to follow itineraries and make connections with the various tourist operators schedules.

Business as Usual
Jesus said to Peter,

"On this Rock I will build my Church"

I can only assume He was referring to Himself as he spoke to Peter...
