Poet's Closet

Welcome to this corner of the web. Now to some of my friends this page may come as a surprise - I guess you could say that I am coming out of the "poet's closet". Those who can sing, sing - those who can't write poetry!

However, I do not think of myself as a poet, nor do I aspire to be one . I merely enjoy stringing words together in a descriptive and sometimes abstract way. The themes of my poems tend to look at societies indiscretions. I do not write love poems - at least none that I'll publish on this page :-)

With each poem, I include an abstract which highlights the reason and meaning behind it. However, at this stage I will not include them - instead, I will let you draw your own conclusions. If you would like my definition, please feel free to contact me and I will send it to you.

Anyway, time for this weeks/months poem called 'Life?'.

Life?

Materialism, clouds the mind from the obscurity of its mortality.
Give a thought to what might be around the next corner.
Is it happiness, sadness, love, anger, or just indifference?

Years filling the void, time giving birth to each new day.
Repetition, hazing the eyes from the circles we travel.
Trying to break the cycle which has become too comforting.

Think about what it is we take for granted.
When we sleep, do we lapse into forgiveness?
Or is the sub-conscious merely relieving consciousness' monotony?

Tomorrow is a new day, a second chance at another beginning.
Do we learn from our mistakes - or will ignorance subdue the soul?
One day tomorrow will not come!

Subjective tyrannies plague on rational judgement.
Blemishing the intellect with false pathways.
Offering tangible rewards for an intangible endeavor.

Life is a mysterious wonder, which has lost its meaning.
The question we ask, but cannot find an answer to.
Will the answer come when it is too late?
