MURCHISON AREA FISHING TRIP

March 12-15, 2004

This weekend I took off Friday and Monday so I could have a full 4 days to travel to and fish the Murchison area.  This town of about 750 people resides in the middle of the Southern Alps and is somewhat of a geological oddity being 2-3 hour drive from nowhere in all directions.  Four major rivers meet at the town, each of which offers kilometers of water extending into the mountain valleys just waiting for the eager angler to explore!  We passed through this area before on our way home from Nelson and the town reminded me of all of Aldro's tails of fishing and staying in the small local pubs while he was in New Zealand.  I am finally getting to go back and explore this area!  Wish me luck!  Megan had to stay home.  I guess the Tekapo trip last weekend was too much for her arthritis.  She has been unable to walk all week and although she was anxious to go, I didn't think she was up for the expected hiking.

Because of the large volume of information related to this trip, I've divided each day into a separate web page for ease of downloading.  This should make for an interesting read, I had an interesting weekend!  Enjoy. . .
