ESQUIRES, AUCKLAND
We stayed down on the waterfront in Auckland. This was central and within walking distance to most of the shops, market and restaurants! We had a view of the harbor where the trophy for the Americas Cup was surrendered to New Zealand a few years ago.
Just
around the corner from the hotel is Esquires! This is a cute little
coffee shop with a view of the harbor and the old Ferry Building that was build
about 100 years ago. Once inside, we ordered "The Usual", flat white, and
began to inquire about the origin of the bean. We noticed a Canadian flag
behind the counter and it turns out, Esquires is part of a Canadian
chain! Check out
http://www.esquireswhistler.com/ for some of the details. They are a
world franchise but have a great shop at Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.
The coffee here was smooth, not overbearing. It reminded me a lot of
Canada in general. Overall, a high quality country, clean and inviting.
The people are intelligent and considerate. They have strong morals but
live a relatively quiet life and keep to themselves. They are not overly
loud in their expressions yet will fight for justice and denounce atrocities to
others. The Canadians, a high quality people, dependable, fun and
available almost anywhere, but you'll have to look for them! Much like
Esquires coffee!
