THE QUEST FOR THE BEST CUP OF COFFEE!
![]()
Part of this trip is to live one of my lifetime dreams, that is to travel the world in search of the best cup of coffee!
Here's what I've found so far . . . .
On arrival, we had our first New Zealand cup of coffee at the Auckland International Airport while we waited for our connecting flight. The cafe was small, we ordered some cappuccino and scones. Because it would take so long for the coffee to be made, the girl told us to take a seat and she'd bring it to us at our table. We later learned that that is the way service usually is even in pubs. The cappuccino came in a regular coffee cup and saucer. We also got silverware spoons to stir in our sugar with. No plastic or disposable stuff!! The quality was pretty good, but not fantastic. Still, a welcome moment after 13 hours on an airplane. Once in Timaru, it became obvious that there was not a Starbucks in town. There are several coffee shops with muffins, scones and other "cakes" available. Regular coffee costs the same as a cappuccino, about $3.00NZ.
