Craddock of Yorkshire, England
My own ancestry is from Yorkshire and this is where my one-name study began. I have done extensive research in this area from primary sources. In the early 1500s when parish registers began, there were two groups of Craddock families - one being armigerous, wealthy and well documented; the other being mainly agricultural labourers and miners. So far I have failed to prove any connection between these two groups, but I feel that there must be one. Both groups were concentrated in the small region around Romaldkirk and Barnard Castle and at that time I have found no other Craddocks recorded in the surrounding counties. Both lines featured the names Tobias, Anthony and Christopher which were handed down for many generations. From that one small area, descendants spread further afield throughout the counties of Durham and North Yorkshire, and also into Leicestershire.Pedigrees are available for Cradock families in the following areas of Yorkshire
