Quorn Court, in the village of Quorndon, Leicestershire, was originally built for the Duke of Devonshire in 1746, and  in 'The History of Leicestershire' it is described as "a small house with only a garden and stables but let at one hundred guineas (£105) a year to Lord Foley and Sir Stephen Glynn."  By 1841 it was a school of 'high reputation' kept by the Rev. T. C. Burnaby.   The present day Spinney Drive, Cradock Drive, and Elms Drive were once within the grounds of Quorn Court.

I have not personally verified the following pedigree, the information has been extracted from secondary sources only.  If you have any information on this line, to either prove or disprove it, I would be delighted to hear from you.

This family claim to have come from Richmond, Yorkshire, England, and entered their pedigree at the Visitation of York in 1665-6.  The arms, crest and motto are the same as the Richmond family.  Although I have done extensive work on the Richmond branch of the family, I have not yet established the connection between the two families.  It is interesting to note that the given name Sheldon is used by the Quorn Court family.  Sheldon was first used as a given name when William Cradock of Gainford, Yorkshire, married Mary SHELDON in 1715.  Their first son was given the name and it was used regularly in succeeding generations.
