Details of recipients as they are announced,
A database of all National and State awards since 1901.

Significant additions have been made to the Roll of Honour online database. More than half of the database records now have digital images of Roll of Honour circulars attached. For the First World War the circulars were forms sent to next of kin seeking details regarding the deceased. For the Second World War these were forms completed by the Directorate of the War Graves Services. They form the basis of the card indexes from which the original Roll of Honour was compiled. Unfortunately circulars were not completed for each person on the Roll of Honour.
A brand new database has been added to the Memorials’ online database, Honours and Awards. This database provides details of approximately 47,000 honours and awards given to Australians while on active service with Australian forces in these conflicts:
Boer War
First World War 1
Second World War
Korean War
Malayan Emergency
Indonesian Confrontation
Vietnam War

Fact sheets are designed to provide information about Australian Archives' holdings on particular topics or groups of records, and to provide information about the Archives' facilities and operations. They are a valuable starting point for researchers.
Australian Service records from World War I
Over 330,000 Australians served overseas in the War of 1914-1918. Of these, nearly 60,000 died, 152,000 were wounded, and 4,000 were taken prisoner. The personal dossiers of these servicemen and women are preserved in the National Office of the Australian Archives in Canberra. The dossiers relate primarily to members of the First Australian Imperial Force but they also include records of members of the Australian Flying Corps Australian Naval and Military Expeditionary Force Royal Australian Naval Bridging Train Australian Army Nursing Service. Depot/Home records for personnel who served within Australia during World War I are also included, making a total of 420,000 dossiers held by Australian Archives.

This site contains a registry of information about the graves and memorials of more than 116,000 Canadians and Newfoundlanders who served valiantly and gave their lives for their country. The site also contains digital images of photographs and personal memorabilia about individual Canadians. The purpose of the Canadian Virtual War Memorial is to recognize and keep alive the memory of the achievements and sacrifices of Canadian citizens who have served in the defence of freedom."
The Books of Remembrance contain the names of Canadians who fought in wars and died either during or after them. All the books are kept in the Memorial Chamber located in the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill. The purpose of creating a site that displays these books on the Internet is to make them more accessible to the public. Quite aptly named are these testaments to Canada's past, for by their very title they remind us to never forget the foundations of courage on which Canada is built.

Canadians who fought and lost their lives in each of the six wars
The six Books of Remembrance lie in the Memorial Chamber in the Peace Tower on Parliament Hill. Together they commemorate the lives of 114,710 Canadians who lost their lives while serving their country in battle outside Canada since Confederation. Each book acts as a record for all of the names of the Canadians who fought and lost their lives in each of the six wars.

The Imperial War Museum is unique in its coverage of conflicts, especially those involving Britain and the Commonwealth, from the First World War to the present day. It seeks to provide for, and to encourage, the study and understanding of the history of modern war and 'war-time experience'. It is proud to be regarded as one of the essential sights of London. The Museum spans a huge range of activities not only at its main London location but also at its three further branches: the Cabinet War Rooms in Whitehall, the historic ship HMS Belfast, moored in the Pool of London, and Duxford Airfield near Cambridge. The information provided here tells you about the permanent displays, the archives, special exhibitions, forthcoming events, education programmes, corporate hospitality and shopping facilities. It describes exciting plans for the future: the inclusion of a permanent Holocaust Exhibition in the London galleries and the development of a new branch for the North of England at Trafford in Greater Manchester.
