MK Information MK Help MK Tournaments
MK Alliances MK Communication StarKnights

The most important web site for any self-respecting MetalKnighter is of course the MetalKnights Homepage. MetalKnights was created by a very talented Canadian named Skyven. It is played internationally by a diverse community of really interesting people, from all walks of life and of all ages!

MK Information sites:

Another very important site is Laserman's MK Information Centre. It contains such delights as Advanced Player and Alliance Searches, a couple of handy little tools called Knightspy Web Interface and Luhar's MetalSpy and MK World Records. Another site known as the NetMetal Player Search can provide details of a player's recent victories, including points amassed for each of these. The MetalKnights Hall of Fame is a listing of current player standings/ranks. The first ever MK e-zine, "MK Now!" was recently released - dedicated entirely to the world of MetalKnights and the MK Community, it is definitely worth a look!

Although not MetalKnights-specific, a link that I and a lot of other players have found helpful is Earth and Moon Viewer. This web site provides satellite photos of the earth (among other shots) in REAL TIME! It is very, very handy for finding out what time of the day or night it is where your opponent is based, if you wish to plan your playing time for its greatest strategic effect!

MetalKnights has a wide range of maps of varying sizes, styles and economic options. Laserman has provided a map statistics table showing which are the most popular, by server.

New maps are regularly added and these are generally devised by MK players themselves. Once you have had some experience at playing the existing maps - the more artistic of you may wish to try your hand at map creation. If you are contemplating this you would be very wise to first utilise the free downloads of both the Map Checker and Map Editor programs which are also available at Laserman's MK InfoCenter.

Help for New Players:

An Australian player named Mokona has created Mokeman's MK Tips Page. When I was first introduced to the game, I read his site from front to back and even made notes (dedicated huh?). For first timers (a.k.a. newbies) it is definitely worth a look!

Another source of help is at the Support section of the MetalKnights Forum site. Here you can ask for help and advice from other (hopefully) more experienced players. A page of Tips from Veterans for new players is also available via the MK Homepage site map - and a player known as Spook has done a great job of compiling tips from experienced MK warriors. Let's not forget Asmodeus's MK Universe page - another must see for MetalKnights news and help!

Genie has developed a great free download called the MK Combat Advisor. This freeware enables you to test out playing strategies using simulations of actual combat situations.

Once you have mastered the basics, sites such as Auverne's Stategy Pages may be of interest. An interesting point to note is that you will come across many different variations of the 'taxation strategy' and you are best to experiment with these yourself and use one which you feel most comfortable with.

MK Tournaments:

MetalKnights Tournaments are often organised by Groups of players - or sometimes even individual players with lots of spare time. Following is a list of links to currently running MK Tourney websites:

MK Olympics and Clan League

The Cockleshell Heroes Alliance website is home for both the MetalKnights Olympics and The Knightsoft Clan League Tournaments. Another enterprising player named Jumper has established an entertaining web site containing match reports, game outcome predictions etc for the Clan League, entitled MKSPN.

Royal Lugenkar Tourney

This is one of the most ambitious tournaments ever attempted and has been in progress for some time now. The organisers are Luhar, Genie and Leijkar and they enlisted the aid of Skyven to offer special prizes. They have also been assisted by Shasa who has been trying valiantly to keep the website up-to-date, and by a group of experienced players who volunteered to create and oversee the games to ensure the rules were adhered to and play was fair. Great work team!

The Last Man Standing Tournament

A newly released contest devised by Acquatoffana with the assistance of Genie - places in this tourney have just been filled and it is due to commence any day.

Some Other MK Alliances' Homepages:

Although the Cockleshell Heroes site is listed above under Tournament sites, they deserve mention here also. Like the ANZAC's, their clan name derives its origins from an authentic military force. The original Cockleshell Heroes were formed from the ranks of the Royal Marines Boom Patrol Detachment, in 1942, to undertake operations of a particularly 'hazardous' nature. Of special note on their website are the 'History' page (containing a more detailed account of the war-time exploits of the 1942 Heroes) and the 'Rogues Gallery', which displays photos of various members of the MK Community.

The Rough Riders, who chose their name from the American cavalry regiment led by Theodore Roosevelt in the late 1800's, also provide a 'history' link.

The 14 Dicks and a Chick Alliance has been in existence for a great many years now, and although they have rarely played as a team in recent times, their site is still worth a visit.

The Western Barbarians' pages may also be of interest or perhaps you would prefer to visit the Warriors of the Past - they are the current leaders in the Clan League Tourney.

Communication within the MK Community:

A popular way to keep up with the latest MK news is via the MetalKnight Forums. There are currently 3 of these - Main, Support and Flame. The Main is for general news and comments, the Support is for newbies who perhaps want some help from more experienced players and the Flame forum is for those who feel the urge to release frustrations with a bit of bad language!

There are 2 other important communication sites commonly used by MKers: One is known as mIRC and the other is ICQ. Both are popular chat channels for real-time communication. You can also find a list of handy ICQ numbers (IDs) through Tarantino's website - the ICQ List of MK players.

About StarKnights:

Skyven's most recent creation is another on-line strategy game - StarKnights. If you followed the link (earlier on this page) to Genie's MK Combat Advisor, you will possibly have discovered Brutalisk's Den. Brutalisk is Genie's StarKnight's nickname and he has compiled some great tips and link sites for StarKnights, which can be accessed through his 'den'. I myself have not played it, mainly because MK, putting these pages together and real life have kept me pretty occupied! Maybe one day huh?
