Access:
Starting from State Highway 3, south of the Waipa River bridge at Otorohanga, turn into Otewa Road under the rail bridge.  Follow Otewa Road for 20 km, at which point you cross the Toa bridge.  At the next intersection turn right into Waimahora Valley Road.  Keep left at the next intersection and continue on Waimahora Valley Road for another 2 ½ km, always taking the left fork. You will pass through Owen Lewis Reserve. Eventually the road becomes private land - so leave gates as you find them. The last left hand fork has a sign indicating Rangitoto Station access and a locked gate. The road then crosses a stream and winds uphill for 6km through more private land. The road can be rough in places but negotiable by 2WD vehicles. At the station entrance is another locked gate. Both gates must be kept locked.

Need Help?
Contact the Cowans. From Waipa River Rd, turn up Barber Rd (Rewarewa). Drive to top of hill. White paling fence on bend on right is 'Avalon'. You may forget your problems when you see Pat's garden!

CAUTION!
The removal of the deer fencing has left many large and dangerous post holes. Please take care when walking and watch children. Keep vehicles to obvious roads as there are many plantings on grassed areas. Cars can usually drive along the Ranginui Trig Rd as far as the quarry. There are washouts on the Owawenga Track.
