12 August 1999
Baby's big day out! Timothy Julian Vaughan, born at 18:00: birth weight 3500g, head circumference 35cm, length 53cm.

20 August 1999
8 Days old, weighing 3550g. Midwife's comments: Raw bottom - mother drinking orange juice.

25 August 1999
13 Days old, weighing 3850g. Midwife's comments: Bottom clear.

9 September 1999
Four weeks old, weighing 4300g. Midwife's comments: Beautiful wee boy.

15 September 1999
A special moment for Dad, witnessing baby's first, toothless smile.

17 September 1999
Five weeks old, weighing 5200g. Midwife's comments: Vocalising.

28 September 1999
Six weeks, well child check & immunisation. Doctor's comments: Handsome healthy boy.

7 October 1999
Eight weeks old, weighing 5900g and measuring 60cm.

19 October 1999
Two months and one week old, weighing 6.12kg. Nurse's comments: Looks well and healthy. Hearing - OK, responds to being talked to. Eyes look straight. Lovely consistent growth and development.

30 October 1999
Two and a half months old. After a lot of effort and determination, got his thumb in his mouth and started sucking.

1 November 1999
First night to sleep through - 9 hours. Wow!

11 November 1999
Three month well child check. Weight 6.74kg, head circumference 40,5cm. Nurse's comments: Strong baby, healthy and alert. Smiley and sociable. Loves to be talked to. Developing well.

15 November 1999
A lot of tears accompanied his three month vaccination. Poor Baby! Stopped sleeping through the night.

19 November 1999
Started rolling over to his side when lying on his tummy.

23 November 1999
Three and a half months old. Weight 7.17kg, length 65cm. Nurse's comments: Good growth and development.

1 December 1999
Started sleeping through the night again.

3 December 1999
Very pleased with his new skill, he reached out for a toy and promptly placed it in his mouth.

11 December 1999
Today, one day shy of four months, he found a great new toy - FEET. Grabbing hold of them when ever he can.

15 December 1999
Must be something with the 15th - stoped sleeping through the night again.

20 December 1999
Look mommy, I can put my foot in my mouth.

Another milestone, at four and a half months, he can sit momentarily without assistance - well done!

29 December 1999
Hold your breath ... he rolled onto his tummy today.

14 January 2000
Today we heard his first real laughter as we tickled him on his tummy.

18 January 2000
Five month vaccination. Mommy that really hurt!

19 January 2000
Mastered a new skill today: passing his favourite toy from one hand to the other.

22 January 2000
A whole new world opened up, with his first taste of solids - yummy!

2 February 2000
Five month well child check (a bit late - 5m 3wks). Weight 7.89kg, head circumference 44cm, length 70cm. Nurse's comments: Timothy looks well and healthy. Growing and developing well.

10 February 2000
Started babbling, repeating sentences of  "ba" and "ga".

25 February 2000
Picked up a toy with two fingers for the first time - oh so dainty!

29 February 2000
Boy, February has been a busy month! After two months of practice, he sat completely unsupported for more than half an hour today, playing with toys.

11 March 2000
Bring on the teething rusks, the first tooth (bottom left incisor) just broke through the gums.

13 March 2000
After months of rolling onto his tummy, today he mastered the skill of rolling back ... and tummy ... and back ... and tummy - this is so much fun!

15 March 2000
Seven month well child check. Weight 8.68kg, length 72cm. Nurse's comments: Timothy looks well and healthy. Sociable. Chatty, vocalising well. Sitting well. Lovely consistent growth and development.

30 March 2000
The second tooth (bottom right incisor) surfaced today, let me tell you teething is no fun!

14 April 2000
At eight months, he is now able to hold himself up while standing next to furniture (hanging on for dear life).

20 April 2000
Pulled himself up to a kneeling position while holding onto the coffee table.

26 April 2000
Waved bye-bye as Dad left for work this morning.

30 April 2000
Started clapping his hands - oh so cute!

14 May 2000
The third tooth (top left incisor) broke through today.

18 May 2000
Another tooth - top right incisor.

1 June 2000
The fifth tooth (bottom left incisor) really surprised us all, as we were expecting another top tooth.

6 June 2000
Six days short of ten months he finally realised he can crawl and started moving steadily across the room.

25 June 2000
Tooth nr 6 appeared today - bottom right incisor.

3 July 2000
Started walking while holding onto furniture - well done!

11 July 2000
The other two top incisors came through today, making it a total of eight teeth.

14 July 2000
Started pointing when asked where things were - no sense of direction but the action is there.

27 July 2000
The months of knocking over mum's towers finally paid off - he stacked a few blocks himself. And hold your breath... he stood completely unsupported for a few seconds.

12 August 2000
First birthday party - can't believe how quick the year has passed!
