Translation - Japanese to English

I am a native English speaker with experience of working and studying in Japan, and I  have special expertise in the following fields.

Translation rates

General information

 I charge by the hour, rather than by the page.  The reason for this is that those who are
writing easily translatable clear English or clear Japanese will get a better deal.   I suggest
that you send a sample of the material you want translated to get a quote.  As a general idea,
a double spaced A4 English page takes from 1 to 5 hours,  depending on its complexity.

 English or Japanese language files can be sent in MS Word  format.

The charges below are our top rates.  We can negotiate cheaper rates for NGOs or people
on low incomes.  Rates are correct as of February 2003.  All rates are subject to exchange
rate fluctuations.

New Zealand Clients
NZD60 per hour, plus postage or fax charges (if applicable).  Payable by cheque or cash
(sorry, we have no credit card facilities).  We are presently not registered for GST.  If we ever
register, a GST charge will apply.

Japanese clients
JPY4000 per hour plus postage or fax charges (if applicable).

Payment can be made into our bank account in Japan by bank transfer (furikomi).

Other clients
JPY4500 per hour, or the equivalent in any convertible currency, plus postage or fax charges
(if applicable).  Payment can be made as a bank draft.

Interpreting
Hourly rates for interpreting are the same as translation.
