About the Project of World Citizenship
1.
INTRODUCTION 1.2 It is registered in New Zealand as a Charitable Trust. 2. THE CHALLENGE 2.1 It is expected that a lot of money will be required to complete this project, and that once underway it is feasible that it will be completed in 3-4 years. However, some aspects of it may be implemented earlier. 2.2 The major part of the project involves identifying the common strands of world religions and ideologies, and combining those strands together to form a common framework of accepted practice in terms of the laws and customs of the world as a whole. This is possible, because we live in one world, and we have one God to worship. World religions are the evaluative process of huma n cultural development. The biggest difficulties to face in this task are that religions are based on limited observations and they are presented in a way which is manufactured by human beings. A lot of them are based on a combination of faith, theories, and hypotheses. It is very hard for outsider to follow them, and as a result of that a transition is needed to develop a process leading to established truth. The world is definitely different in terms of knowledge than 5000 years ago when Hinduism was established, 3300 years ago the Jewish religion, 2500 years Buddhism, 2000 years ago Christianity, and 1400 years ago when Islam was established. People are seeking truth and reality in order to understand the creation and natural process. 2.3 So, in this situation, my project would aid the progress of human endeavor toward reaching reality. That is the hope I hold. 2.4 We have to identify the organizations and/or individuals who would be able to assist in the transition process to identify and if appropriate form common ideologies and common laws between individual countries. Once that aspect has progressed, the next step would be that the project of the MNN TRUST (in association with the New Zealand Ministry Foreign Affairs and Trade) will be submitted to the United Nations for the approval and implementation by the member states of the United Nations. 3. THE PROJECT 3.1 To create world citizenship: The objects of the trust shall be: (a) The advancement of education with particular emphasis on the developing curricula for schools, colleges, universities and general community projects. (b) The advancement of religions with particular emphasis on broadening understanding of various religions with a view to achieve understanding of living in multicultural societies. (c) The relief of poverty with particular emphasis educating the poor with life skills designed to improve their quality of life. 3.2 From the United Nations could come proposals to: introduce a world citizenship, including a passport, to be used during refugee crises and other situations in which the UN has to take effective responsibility for the lives of people; strengthen existing international declarations and treaties on racism, given that racial discrimination is the root cause of so much international conflict and domestic unrest; and develop international programmes which apply the principle of sustainability to social as well as environmental concerns. 3.4 The organisation would also provide other support and assistance consistent with the charitable purpose. 3.4 I am now developing detailed proposals for consideration by the New Zealand Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade. 4. RATIONALE OF THE PROJECT 4.1 My vision is similar to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of United Nations. It is obvious that the Declaration has, during the last 50 years, not achieved what was hoped for. In some countries there is little tangible sign of progress in human rights implementation. This project would aid its implementation. It is also obvious that many countries outside the Western world interpret the Declaration through the bias of their religions or with an attitude of hating what they regard as the Western colonial mentality. The lack of spiritual activities in the progress of human development is evident. With the impact of improved educational achievement, the shifting of peoples' minds from faith towards truth is obvious. However, the apparent loss of traditional religious faith has remained in the minds of people, and is unfulfilled. It is necessary to have spiritual blessing. If it is lacking in people they can be too easily confused. 4.2 People in general can be grouped into one of 7 categories, viz. (1). Islam, (2) Christians, (3) Hinduism, (4) Jewish, (5) Buddhism, (6) indigenous faith beliefs, and (7) people without faith / scientific believers. The world population is reaching about 6 billion (divide by those categories). 4.3 If we look at world history for the past 30 years, it is obvious that the discovery of oil has significantly changed people's environment/ pollution perceptions. Similarly, in the last 20 years the world economic situation has frequently gone out of control. It is very important to note that the family structures are also severely affected by divorce and separation. The traditional guidance for family upbringing has gone, and that gap has to be restored. 4.4 Religious faith is obstruction towards wisdom, and it is evident that knowledge and the religious brief are inversely related. It has been noted earlier that something is lacking in the areas of faith. In reality traditional faith is failing to support the human race. It is obvious that faith has to be replaced by Truth. 5. BACKGROUND OF DR MUHAMMAD NUR NABI, FOUNDER OF THE PROJECT 5.1 I am a Biological Scientist, and have knowledge in subjects such as evolution and human development. I have read the Quran, the Hadith, the Bible, and I was born in the country of India , where three religions (Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism) were born and are still practiced. I have lived in countries with a mixed indigenous and European background such as New Zealand and Australia , and have traveled to Pakistan , Afghanistan , Saudi Arabia , Kuwait , Egypt , and Singapore. 5.2 I am very much interested in human welfare, and I have experiences with various ethnic groups of people. I have been involved in the formation of the following Associations: Muslim Association (Canterbury) Incorporated. The major asset of this Association is the Mosque, Al Nur, bears my middle name. Federation of Islamic Association of New Zealand, Wellington, New Zealand. Bangladeshi Association of Canterbury Inc., Christchurch, New Zealand. Bangladesh Islamic Centre, Sydney, N S W, Australia. 5.3 I have witnessed prejudice. 5.4 I consider that my project is absolutely vital in terms of the spiritual and pragmatic development of human beings to achieve peace in the world. 5.5 I believe that humans in every situation require various sorts of divine or spiritual help, as they live in fear of mortality, are prone to disease, and live in a complicated world concerning their achievements, requirements and security. 5.6 Therefore, the biggest task facing my project would have to be in, engaging in formulation and translation of the religious doctrines, and non-religious ideologies into a common form which is acceptable and understandable to most people. Concurrently, people would have to be taught to be educated, and to be able to follow the basic principles of human development and nature. 5.7 The recent trend of migration towards the new (developed) world is an issue which is very significant to consider in terms of the settlement of those migrants. Also the globalisation of sports, economics, trade, technological development and education etc. would make my project very vital if the world is to focus on the need for human beings to be considerate towards each other and towards nature as a whole. I would also like to see migration toward the old (under-developed) world and settlement to be restored so that an equilibrium in human races that suit the human society and natural genetically preference towards the production of superior physical and healthy-minded humans, and upgrade the traditions towards caring humans. 6. RESPONSES TO THE PROJECT SO FAR 6.1 Responses to my project to date indicate that there is fear that it may interfere with the sovereignty of individual countries. However, my view is that restoring peace and harmony in the country and in the world as a whole could only bring happiness, security etc. This is something much needed at the moment. 6.2 The Trust also makes recommendations to problems such as the dispute of sovereignty of Kashmir, war in Afghanistan , and eradication of poverty in Bangladesh . The UN should delegate power to other member countries as an aid to solve the problems. I note that some countries are currently practicing multiculturalism. 6.3 As the United Nations is one united body, I am taking the opportunity to use that as a platform to achieve my goal. Only minimising the difference at the heart of arguments can lead to world peace. I am sure my suggestion will be accepted, and I will be given the opportunity to work in my project, and to reach the goal. 6.4 On 25 February 1998 I wrote to the Secretary General of United Nations regarding the world citizenship: 6.5 On 11 March 1998 the Secretary General responded, advising that I process the project through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand to the United Nations for the consideration by the member states of United Nations, 6.6 On 28 April 1998 letters were sent to the head of the states of the member states of United Nations informing that the project is in the process of development. There has also been notified the Government and some Members of Parliament of New Zealand, such as, the Governor General, the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, the Minster of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr. Tim Barnett MP, Mr. Jim Anderton MP, Ms Lianne Dalziel MP, and the Mayor of Christchurch Ms Vicki Buck. The replies received from the Governor General of NZ, the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, the Minster of Foreign Affairs and Trade informing, and Ms. Vicki Buck, were that they had noted that the project is under development. 6.7 Mr. Tim Barnett MP is assisting this project. 6.8 Similarly many replies have been received from other head of the states of the members of the United Nations, such as Governor General of Australia, |
