Kaytee Exact

Kaytee’s exact extruded nuggets contain the exact same nutrients in every bite. After years of Research, Kaytee has developed the perfect nutrition for almost all types of birds. These nuggets differ from pellets in that they are extruded, not compressed. This means that they are bound by using high temperatures, which pasteurises ingredients, resulting in low bacterial counts. As they are cooked, digestibility and taste are improved, and the amount of dust particles is greatly reduced. Pellets are usually simply compressed under low temperatures which results in higher bacterial counts, digestibility generally isn’t as good and there is more dust created through the compression, binding and handling. Levels of amino acids (protein), vitamins and minerals, carbohydrates and fatty acids are measured to provide optimum nutrition to meet each bird’s dietary requirements. Converting your bird onto Kaytee nuggets:

Conversion from seed onto Kaytee nuggets can be done in a number of ways. I’ve personally found that almost all parrots will eat the nuggets right away if offered to them on their fruit and vegetable mix, although they won’t eat huge amounts this way. You can mix the nuggets together with the seed mix and slowly decrease the portion of the mix that is seed while at the same time increasing the nugget portion. This should be done over a two to three week period – but make sure that the nuggets are being eaten in sufficient quantities before removing all the seed. Some people have converted birds by simply removing all seed and replacing with Kaytee nuggets as soon as the bird has been noticed pecking at them. This has worked in some cases but is not the recommended method. Kaytee exact breeder formula:

This was developed as a result of Kaytee Avian Research Centre studies, which showed macaws, eclectus and hawk heads perform better on an increased energy diet.  By adjusting levels of protein, vitamins, and minerals, Kaytee's Exact Handfeeding Formula for Macaws provides ideal growth and feathering due to elevated energy and fatty acid levels.

Technical features: Exact Handfeeding Formula (original and Macaw) contains pro-biotic to encourage a healthy population of intestinal micro-organisms. The selected species have been chosen specifically for their vitality, stability and wide array of beneficial effects in the system.  Unlike Lactobacillus, the Bacillus spp. maintain their viability throughout processing and storage, while having similar modes of action and effects, on the digestive system.  Digestive enzymes (amylase and protease) are included to ensure adequate digestion of carbohydrates and proteins.  These enzymes are of particular value in the newly hatched baby or in a bird experiencing digestive difficulties. Pollen

   In the past decade, science has discovered that bee pollen contains a miracle concentration of nearly all the known nutrients.
