Biography
From Queanbeyan, New South Wales, Webber was a keen sportsman in his youth and a big rugby fan. He was also a motocross racer as his father was a motorcycle dealer and was involved in the sport. Mark then tried a kart owned by one of his friends and liked He had no money for Formula 3 in 1997 but did a deal with Alan Docking and scraped together the money to do the full season and impressed by winning a race and finishing fourth in the series. This led to a deal with Mercedes-Benz in sportscar racing in 19 He was expecting to be the Renault F1 test driver in 2002 but was offered a drive by Stoddart (who had by then bought Minardi) as team mate to Alex Yoong.
