A Snapshot in Time
The Morrin Museum is challenging the town of Morrinsville to seize a once in a lifetime opportunity. The museum plans to produce a series of DVDs to celebrate the Centennial Year, with a photographic record of all people living here in 2008.
This ambitious project is thought to be a first for any town in New Zealand. This venture will serve as a fund raiser for the new Morrin Museum building as well as a record for families to leave for future generations. A museum should reflect everyone in the town and in this Centennial Year people have the chance to make this happen.
Digital photographs at the cost of $5 per person will be taken either at Kodak Express ( next to Unichem in Studholme Street) or by roving photographers depending on what photographs need to be taken. Kodak Express will photograph an individual head and shoulder shots while roving photographers will take individual people, family photos, photos with pets, photos of business premises and staff. The ideas are endless.
Photos of clubs, organisations, sports teams, or informal groups and other celebrations, would be wonderful inclusions. Costing for photos of these groups will be negotiable.
There is also an opportunity for people to submit a family history including photos of people who no longer live in Morrinsville. This has a limit of two pages per family and costing $10 per page.
Photos of people who are living in Morrinsville in this centennial year will be taken from July 2008 to July 2009.
Forms can be collected from Kodak Express, Morrin Museum, Piako Post, and Morrinsville Information Centre. Completed forms will be placed with money in a box at Kodak Express. Preferred time and place for photographs taken by the roving photographers will be negotiated by phone.
