Dining Out

Wellington has a good variety of restaurants. Menus.co.nz covers a few of them. At the weekend we often have lunch at Cafe Vella in Plimmerton. I sometimes end up eating at Shed 5 or Dockside for business lunches. Other Wellington restaurants I have been to recently include the Ambeli, Copita and Bistro Breton.

Over in the Wairarapa I eaten at the White Swan and Salute Cafe in Greytown and recommend them.

In Northland, on our honeymoon in Russell at the end of 2002 we had very nice meals at Gannets and The Gables. Near Whangarei the Parua Bay Tavern is a pleasant lunch venue.

In Mission Bay, Auckland, I have had good meals at Portofino NEW and Ruan Thai NEW.

DineFind and DineOut have wide New Zealand coverage.

In Sydney we went out to the Casa Asturiana, an excellent Spanish restaurant.

Wine

Spirits and Liqueurs

Prenzel in Marlborough produces excellent fruit schnapps and liqueurs.

Orange-based Cointreau is one of my favourite liqueurs.
