Hi, I am glad you have made it to my website. First I would like to introduce myself. I live in New Zealand, a beautiful country situated in the South Pacific. New Zealand has a population of about 3.8 million people. Some people call us "Kiwis" after a small, flightless, native bird. New Zealand is also known for it's Kiwi fruit, a small brown furry fruit which is exported to many countries in the world.
New Zealand is a small country, slightly larger than the British Isles. It was settled by the British who came in search of a better land, approximately 150 years ago. When the British arrived they were met by the Maori people who had already settled here many centuries before. After fighting between the two people a Treaty was signed in an attempt for the two races to live in harmony. My own family arrived in New Zealand from England on the Lady Nugent on 17 March 1841.
The main language spoken in New Zealand is English.. However, in an attempt to preserve the cultural heritage of our Maori people, the Maori language it is being taught in many schools today.
New Zealand has a mild - moderate climate with January and February being the hottest months and June and July the coldest. There are many attractions for the tourist.. From mountains to beaches, and volcanoes, glaciers, and fiords all not to be missed New Zealand offers something for everyone. Rotorua in the North Island with it's geysers, hot mud and mineral pools are a popular tourist attraction while Queenstown in the South island offers scenery equal to the best in the world.
