Vietnamese is possibly one of the least daunting Asian languages for Europeans because early French occupation forced the Vietnamese to adopt a Romanised script.  As a result it is possible to get some idea of the pronunciation from the written word.  In other ways, however, it has the complexities of other tonal Asian languages.  Those interested may wish to follow the links below.
