Kiwi Bach

A bach is a traditional New Zealand(Kiwi) holiday home.  Actually it is a term used mainly in the North Island of New Zealand.  In the south of the country they use the word "crib" to describe the same sort of structure.

Traditionally, the quintessential elements of a "bach" were:

It is in a gorgeous location, usually by the sea, where the owners would love to live if only they didn't have to work for a living.
It is a minimalist structure and built for holiday relaxation.
It is economically furnished to suit.

Today, however, the word "bach" is endearingly used to describe any holiday property ranging from the "traditional" to multi-million dollar seaside mansions.  Our bach lies closer to the "traditional" end of the scale!
