A person of varied interests is our Koenig. Self-styled Oracle Applications Consultant Extraordinaire (OACE - pronounced "Oh, Ace!" in husky tones), PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor, farmer, proud Nexian (and Nexus Developer), world traveller and renowned propper-upper of bars around the planet.
Married to Artemis, the Greek goddess of hunting no less, Koenig lives quite happily in Auckland, New Zealand at the moment although he has resided at different times in London (England - smelly city but great fun), Zug (Switzerland, no smell and skiing to die for) and, most recently, Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea, dirty, dangerous and great scuba diving). Koenig has sired two young lads (that he's aware of) and he and Artemis spend much of their spare time corrupting them and teaching them that Darth Vader is a hero to be looked up to.
| The handle "Koenig", whilst literally taken from the German word König (king) and pronounced 'kernick', was in fact chosen way back in Koenig's misspent youth as he searched for a suitable personalised plate for himself. Being quite a fan of Ferraris at the time (and still) he chose the name of one of the worlds best supercar tuners, Koenig Competition based in München, Germany. They turn out some fantastic conversions of Ferraris like this: |

| Having procured this plate for himself he promptly plonked said number plate on this Jap import Mitsubishi Mirage Turbo: |

Whilst Koenig's vehicular mode of transport has improved somewhat over the years, the Ferrari is still a few years away... The number plate has at various times graced a Ford Laser, Toyota Corolla, Hyundai Stellar (erk!), Mitsubishi Lancer GSR coupe and is still in use on his current horseless carriage.
Koenig and Artemis are both members of the Rotota Sun Club and for many years Koenig designed and maintained their multi-award winning web pages as well as his own Nudism in NZ site where, rather than "sing the corporate tune" as it were, he can espouse his own opinions. It is also an excellent resource for linking to naturist web sites in New Zealand, even if he does say so himself.
Both are also keen photographers and have thousands of pictures snapped both above and below water around the world.
Well, now for a couple of interesting moments that, for whatever reason, Koenig has decided will be displayed for your digestion...

A few Kiwis (Grasshopper, Artemis and Koenig) conquer a Welsh mountain in April 1994. Mt. Snowdon to be precise. Swandris at the ready, Norsewear hats and the NZ flag make this a distinctly Kiwi effort. Must do it all again soon. |

What could be a better way to spend your birthday than at the Venice
Carnival? Well... living it up at a 5 star hotel for the duration of said
Carnival comes to mind... Koenig and Artemis strike a pose... |

When you're not up to conquering a mountain per se... pose in front of it! Koenig and Artemis take a short break from drinking to strap on skis and pose in front of the Matterhorn, Zermatt. |

Christmas 1997, St. Moritz, Switzerland. That's Artemis in the black helmet and Koenig behind her. This is definitely one of the coolest ways to blow a couple of hundred bucks each in 75 seconds flat! Eyeball wrenching Gs and an experience not soon to be forgotten. |

Niugini Tropical paradise? Well,
almost... In 1999, after Koenig and a work mate got held up by a gang of gun-totin' "raskols" in Port Moresby, their car looked a little the worse for wear... but still, it could be repaired, which is more than can be said for the raskol who failed to survive the aforementioned encounter... Still, many a drink was consumed that evening after the excitement was over... From the looks of the shotgun pellet scar on the fuel cap the evening sure could've been worse if the cap had been just a little thinner! |

In March 1999 Koenig and Artemis decided to spend a few weeks holiday
looking at farms with the intention of getting a feel for prices and locations and not
purchasing for 18-24 months. Great plan but... ... they found this beauty on the shores of Lake Ohakuri and fell in love with it! On the 30th June 1999 they became proud owners of this yet-to-be-named farmlet. Incorporating 26.5Ha (65+ acres) of open grazing and pine plantation, a fantastic house building spot with 180 degree lake views, well over a kilometre of lake shore and a lake filled with trout, this really is a slice of paradise. Back in 1999 we started with about 10,000 GF23 genetic pines on about 10Ha. The pines were about 3-5 years old and had never been pruned. As of December 2002 they've all either had their third and final pruning or have been 'thinned' (cut down) leaving us with less than half the original crop. About all we have to do now is sit back and wait for them all to grow to maturity. Koenig and Artemis intend to build a house in about 2 years time and leave the civilised world behind! |
Well, that's all for now folks.
