CONTACT KATY                  HERITAGE STORIES

Hello and Welcome to my
World of Storytelling

Katy - a dynamic storyteller.

My lively storytelling is guaranteed to bring a smile on the faces of listeners of all ages. My stories are delivered enthusiastically using props, puppets and participation to engage my audience. As a professional storyteller I aim to engage my audience, whatever their age, in the Magic of Storytelling.

Why Storytelling?

Every story counts, so I try to make each story a positive creative experience in the minds of the listeners.
I tell to encourage and entertain. I love the story and love the audience. Storytelling is a shared experience between listener and teller. Stories can paint a picture. Stories can bring back memories, emotions, relax and entertain and bring back laughter.

Thank you so very much for your storytelling performance in our Library.
The children appreciated your enthusiasm and the variety that your props and puppets brought to the performance.
They loved having the opportunity to use the puppets and props and help tell the stories.

  • The Age of The Dinosaur (dinosaur tales)

  • Portrait of NZ (NZ Colonial and Edwardian stories. Adults or children)

Heritage stories.

Story is the best vehicle for passing on factual information. Historical figures and events linger in the minds of both children and adults when communicated by way of a narrative. Any item or event - any topic can be incorporated into story form and made more memorable if the listener takes the story to heart

Inspired by our country's heritage, Katy has written a programme of stories that highlight life in New Zealand around the turn of the 19th century. Curious, quirky incidents where truth is stranger than fiction - extraordinary stories of events that really did happen!

Katy is a highly talented storyteller with a passion and enthusiasm for her craft.
Her stories captured the imaginations of the children who sat enthralled and delighted with the heroic adventures.
Katy has a natural affinity with children.

Kate Francis,
2005 School Holiday Programme Coordinator,
MOTAT, Auckland.

Your contribution to the "Portrait of NZ" section of the Festival was much appreciated by your audiences. You obviously reminded folk of how things were in the old days. We all enjoyed your wonderful costumes, very much in keeping with the theme of the Festival.
We thank you and look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

Janet Hayes,
Convenor,
2004 Glistening Waters Festival of Storytelling.
