The Silverstream Gallery is situated at Kimbell, a settlement 9km from Fairlie, on the main inland highway to Mount Cook, the big inland lakes, and Queenstown. It was established 5 years ago by international landscape artist Randall Froude, one of New Zealand's very finest. The gallery was situated in his cottage and incorporated his studio, where visitors could meet and talk with him. In 1998 Randall sold the gallery to Lloyd Harwood, where both artists now exhibit their work, together with oils and watercolours by Randall's very talented son and daughter-in-law.

New Gallery
In February 1999 a new larger gallery opened adjacent to the cottage, which now becomes the new owner's residence. Lloyd's studio is also in the new building, and he too welcomes visitors to browse and chat, and view the varied works of the small group of local artists. Lighting and displays of paintings are upgraded in the new gallery, and more works are now on view. Plenty of parking is available in this very picturesque setting, and picnic tables are available for visitors to use if they wish.

Hours
The gallery is open every day from 8.00am to 6.00pm, and to 8.00pm in the summer months. It may be closed at times on Mondays or Tuesdays during mid-winter.
