Subjects covered are as follows: Junior - Maths, English, Social Studies, Science, Word building, Bible Reading, Animal Science, Literature, Creative Writing. Senior - Maths, English, Social Studies, Science, Etymology, Typing, Computer Literacy, Bible, Missions, Health, Art, Music, Languages (French, Spanish & Greek), Accounting.
Correspondence School - Offers curriculum from preschool right through to Form 7. It is very expensive if you do not fit the criteria for their exemptions. (Talking thousands of $'s here). Children 16 and over can apply for adult rates (which could be useful for sitting exams). But they do supply everything. Your child does the work in the booklets and you send it back for marking. I understand there is a lot of writing involved for the children. Contact the Registrar, Home School Service, Private Bag, Wellington.
Interactive Education - This is a christian, primary only curriculum program that teaches Devotions, Visual, Oral, and Written Language, Science, Social Studies, Art, Technology and Health. You will need to supplement with Maths and Reading. It is done in a unit style and covers the NZ curriculum. Cost: Registration Fee $225 per family plus $57 per unit which lasts about a term. There is a free unit available from their site.

in Palmerston North, but they will post books out.
National Library of New Zealand - As
homeschoolers you are able to borrow books, tapes, videoes from
this library. They have changed the amount of books you are
allowed to take out at one time and there is a limit of how many
books per subject you can borrow. Ring them at 0800 17 17 17, or
email cisreq@natlib.govt.nz to find out the
details. You will need to send a copy of your exemption
certificate.
Your local library - as homeschoolers your local librarian will become one of your children's best friends! Don't forget that if your library does not stock a particular book that you want you can interloan it from another library at a small cost.
Secondhand shops - great place to find good quality (generally older) children's books. I have found early readers that the schools discard in these shops. The Salvation Army and Methodist shops are the cheapest.
Garage Sales - keep an eye out for educational books and toys.
Answers in Genesis - has materials for learning about Creation Science.
Scholastic New
Zealand Ltd. - sells children's story books. Phone 0800 724 652
