The Mask Settings dialog appears when you click the Mask Settings button in plugins such as Ice Shelf or Sorta Surf. It lets you specify the size and resolution of a mask, as well as select the BMP file you want to use as a mask. If the size of the file chosen is not the same as that specified, then you will be informed of that but not prevented from using the file. The resulting mask may not be what you expect though.
The Interface
Mac version Windows version The Mask Settings dialog is pretty straightforward to use. Here's a guide to it's settings :
- Terrain Size popup list
Click on this popup list to select the appropriate terrain size. Together with the Pixels per TG Unit setting, this is used to assemble the mask which is read in from the file you choose.
- Pixels per TG Unit
This setting lets you specify the resolution of the mask. Along with the previous setting, this setting is used to correctly arrange the mask when the file you choose is read in.
- Informatory text area
The text displayed here indicates the dimensions of the mask which are expected when you load the mask file. If the size of the file is different to that expected, then an alert will be displayed informing you of this. You can still choose to load the file though, although this may cause further errors and the resulting mask may not be what you're expecting.
- Load Mask button
When you click this button, an Open dialog box will open where you can choose the BMP file you would like to use for a mask.
- Cancel button
This button closes the Mask Settings dialog, without copying the mask you've loaded, if any, to the plugin you opened the dialog from.
- OK button
Clicking this button closes the Mask Settings dialog, and copys the mask you've loaded, if any, to the plugin you opened the dialog from.
