The
purpose of this site is to introduce myself, and a little of my 3D work.
I've been a full-time animator since 1999, and made the switch to Maya
software early in 2000. Since then, I've been a huge fan of both Maya
and 3D Animation in general.
The project I'm currently working on at Weta Productions is a computer
animated television series called Jane
& the Dragon. Because it's still in production, there are
no images from it on this site (though there's an on-line
gallery on Weta's site). In fact, all the images on this site are
from personal projects. Most of my professional work has been for various
television projects, and although it's been fun to do, I haven't included
any of it here.
My interests span almost all areas of the animation pipeline, so I'm
constantly honing my skills in modelling, character rigging, character
animation, shading networks, lighting, cinematography, particles, dynamic
simulations, cloth, paint effects, MEL scripting, Maya's API, C++...
you get the idea! I guess that's one of the appealing things about working
in this industry - there are always exciting new avenues to explore.
Like
other areas of computer graphics, 3D imagery is a synthesis of the technical
and the creative: the left-brain and the right-brain. My early background
was a bit more computer-oriented (anyone else remember the Sinclair
ZX81?), so I often find myself drawn towards areas associated with Technical
Direction. However, I am also careful not to neglect the creative and
aesthetic facets of the field, as these are the ultimate goal of even
the most dry programming task.
Thanks for dropping by,
Jeremy
