Near or far.

Part Four

As the day drew on, the Famous Three walked to the nearby village, to meet people and take advantage of the public showers at the camping grounds there.

"So you're camped out on the moors, that's brave of you," a man in the showers told Subaru, looming over him. "It's supposed to be haunted you know. I hear that noone who goes there ever returns, and their bodies are never found!"

"Pish tosh," said Seishirou. "That sort of thing is all stuff and nonsense." He moved protectively towards Subaru. "And we'll thank you to mind your own business."

The man sneered at the older boy. "Oh really? Well, you'll see soon enough."

"Gosh, what do you think he meant by that?" Subaru asked Seishirou anxiously.

"I think he was just trying to scare us," Seishirou replied darkly. "You weren't frightened, were you?"

"Certainly not!" Subaru objected indignantly. "I'm not a naïve little schoolboy who is so easily fooled!"

"Quite so," Seishirou said. "Oops! Oh bother. Could you pick up the soap Subaru? It's right by your feet."

"How was your shower?" Hokuto asked when they emerged later on. "You were in there _forever_."

"Very relaxing," Seishirou replied. "Sorry about the delay, I had to make sure Subaru washed behind his ears, and he kept squirming."

Subaru blushed hotly. "You didn't really need to _check_, Seishirou," he objected mildly.

"Of course he did," Hokuto supported Seishirou instantly. "You know you're absent-minded about these things. You're lucky to have a friend who takes such good care of you. You should be grateful to Seishirou!"

Subaru flushed further and quickly changed the subject, "I suppose you're right. Thank you Seishirou. Anyway, shall we go for a ramble around the village?"

"An excellent idea," Seishirou approved. "Maybe we can find somewhere that sells postcards."

"And cream cakes and tea!" Hokuto announced. "I'm starving."

"Already?" Seishirou laughed. "You only just had breakfast two hours ago."

Hokuto pouted slightly.

"Actually, I'm feeling a bit peckish myself," Subaru said thoughtfully.

"Now there's an unusual thing," Seishirou said. "We must take the opportunity to feed him at once Hokuto!"

"Indeed!" Hokuto agreed. "And you were quite hungry at breakfast too. All this fresh air and exercise must be giving you an appetite at last! Are you finding that too Seishirou?"

Seishirou looked thoughtful, "I don't know if it's increasing my appetite, but I'm certainly eating a lot more." A smile crossed his face briefly. "But that could be just because the food is so delicious."

"Then it's settled!" Hokuto announced. "We'll go and eat and send postcards to our friends and walk around. Let's go!"

Seishirou and Subaru agreed with her loudly and they all three set out for cream cakes, scones and tea.

Are the Famous Three really in danger from the haunted moors? Will their bodies disappear never to be found again? Tune in next time to see Subaru dragging in help to make Jaelle stop.

Subaru: *hauls Seishirou over* YOU tell her! She listens to you.
Seishirou: But I LIKE the story Subaru-kun.
Subaru: You're all against me!
Seishirou and Jaelle: We thought you knew that!
