Ending 1: He's So Cute

Shinichi smiled. "I know the answer!" He proclaimed proudly.

Every eye turned to him.

"It seems clear that the perpetrator of this act was someone who knew the territory intimately. The perpetrator waited until exactly 3.15 before making their move. They knew that at that moment, everyone would be busy in the main room. The only people not in this room were Takahashi-san, who had gone to answer the phone, Shingo-kun, who was in the bathroom, and Sonoko, who was waiting to use the bathroom. Using this brief period of opportunity when all other witnesses were elsewhere, the perpetrator struck."

Ran rolled her eyes as Shinichi paused.

"Therefore," 6-year-old Shinichi said. "I can therefore reveal... that while everyone else was busy and the hallway was completely clear except for her, SONOKO took the cookie from the cookie jar!"

Ending 2: But a little long-winded sometimes

"The criminal had set everything up ahead of time. He knew that the alarm on the back door would not go off if it was opened from the inside, so he put a small piece of card between the locking mechanism and the door frame to prevent it shutting completely. This meant that when he opened it from the outside, the alarm thought it was being opened from the inside, and did not go off. Next he picked his weapon. He knew from former perusal of the territory where the knives were kept, and grabbed the one he favoured the most. Then he hid in the pantry when Sonoko came in to fetch the cake. After she'd gone, he waited until the party had reached a loud point. At that time, he made his way to the study, where Mr Kishida was working, and killed him. Then, he waited for the noise to get louder again. Keeping an eye down the corridor, he waited until Shingo had returned to the party and Sonoko had entered the bathroom, at which point he quietly ran down the corridor, abandoning the bloody murder weapon by the phone, before exiting out the front door."

Ran rolled her eyes as Shinichi paused. "Or..." she interupted, "The criminal could have come in through the kitchen window while the party was going on, grabbed a knife from the stand, killed Mr Kishida, and run out the front door, dropping the knife on the way."

"Well... yes." Shinichi admitted. "But my way is more interesting."

"I KNEW it!"

Ending 3: But can you blame him for being like that, really?

Shinichi smiled. "I know the answer!" He proclaimed proudly.

Every eye turned to him.

"It seems clear that the perpetrator of this act was someone who knew the territory intimately. The perpetrator waited until exactly 3.15 before making their move. They knew that at that moment, everyone would be busy in the main room. Using this brief period of opportunity when all other witnesses were elsewhere, the perpetrator struck."

"The criminal entered through the kitchen window while everyone was in the main room enjoying the party and grabbed a knife from the nearby stand. Then they went into the study and killed Mr Kishida, after which they ran out the front door, dropping the knife on the way."

Inspector Megure clapped Shinichi on the shoulder. "That's exactly what we thought!" He said, "Well done Shinichi!"

"Yes, that IS exactly what you thought," said Shinichi. "So _why_ did you call me out?! It's obvious what happened! You didn't need me for this!"

Inspector Megure shuffled awkwardly. "Well, we're a little rusty at solving murders, and we thought that this one was far too obvious, so maybe it was more complicated, like they usually are. So we thought we should check."

Shinichi sighed.
