Author: Jaelle

Act Three (of Three)

Rating: PG

Disclaimer: All Clamp's, all the time. Only borrowing.

Warnings: Filk alert!

See Act One for Author's Notes.

*The curtain rises again on the Clamp Campus.*

HOKUTO:
And so the conflict was set, Dragons of Earth against Dragons of Heaven, and the two Kamuis above it all, twins forced to battle each other until only one was left. Each fighting for their dream, their Wish, their vision of the world to come.

*Both teams assemble on stage for the next song, each facing the other.*

[One Vision - Queen]

HINOTO and KANOE:
(God works in mysterious ways)

FUUMA:
One man, one goal, one mission

KAMUI:
One heart, one soul, just one solution

BOTH:
One flash of light,
Yeah, one God, one vision!

SEISHIROU:
One flesh, one bone
One true religion

SUBARU:
One voice, one hope
One real decision

BOTH:
Wowowowo gimme one vision!

SATSUKI:
No wrong, no right
I’m gonna tell you there’s no black and no white!

YUZURIHA:
No blood, no stain
All we need is one world wide vision!

NATAKU:
One flesh, one bone
One true religion

KAREN:
One race, one hope
One real decision

BOTH:
Wowowowo oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah

KAKYOU:
I had a dream
When I was young
A dream of sweet illusion
A glimpse of hope and unity
And visions of one sweet union
But a cold wind blows
And a dark rain falls
And in my heart it shows
Look what they’ve done to my dreams!

FUUMA:
So give me your hands
Give me your hearts
I’m ready
There’s only one direction

KAMUI:
One world, one nation
Yeah one vision

YUUTO:
No hate, no fight
Just excitation

SORATA:
All through the night
It’s a celebration

BOTH:
Wowowowo yeah

One one one one...
One vision!

ARASHI:
One flesh, one bone
One true religion

KUSANAGI:
One voice, one hope
One real decision

FUUMA and KAMUI:
Gimme one light!
Gimme one hope!
Just gimme!
One man, one man
One bar, one night
One day, hey hey
Just gimme gimme gimme gimme
Fried chicken!

*KAMUI looks baffled as the song ends.*

KAMUI:
Fried chicken???

FUUMA:
Mmmm, chicken.

HOKUTO:
Ahem. Anyway. So the two teams of champions set out to fight this battle on a mystical battlefield. The Dragons of Earth began to destroy the Kekkai of Tokyo, and the Dragons of Heaven raced to protect them. With Fuuma now gone, and Kotori dead, Kamui was left alone...

KEIICHI:
*poings up* HIIII!!! Hello! Good to see you! How is everyone? Are you enjoying the show so far? I hope you're all having fun! It's nice to meet you!

HOKUTO:
But not for long.

KEIICHI:
Kamui!!!

KAMUI:
Um, hi.

KEIICHI:
Did you bring lunch today? Or are you going home for it? Or are you buying it from the cafeteria?

KAMUI:
I, um, brought it.

KEIICHI:
GREAT! Then we can eat lunch TOGETHER! Okay?

KAMUI:
Sure.

KEIICHI:
Yay!

KAMUI:
Why do you want to spend so much time with me? I don't understand.

KEIICHI:
Why? I'll tell you why!

[I Feel the Earth Move - Carole King]

KEIICHI:
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around

Ooh, baby, when I see your face
Mellow as the month of May
Oh, darling, I can't stand it
When you look at me that way

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down
I feel my heart start to trembling
Whenever you're around

Oh, darling, when you're near me
And you tenderly call my name
I know that my emotions
Are something I just can't tame
I've just got to have you, baby

I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down, tumbling down
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down
I just lose control
Down to my very soul
I get a hot and cold all over
I feel the earth move under my feet
I feel the sky tumbling down,
Tumbling down, tumbling down...

*As the song ends, the ground rumbles.*

KEIICHI:
Mum! Dad! *races off*

HOKUTO:
That's wasn't the song making the earth move! Fuuma, did you break another Kekkai?

FUUMA:
Sorry. Got bored.

HOKUTO:
BAD KAMUI!

FUUMA:
Oh come on, this is my JOB.

KAMUI:
Why do you always have to hurt people?

FUUMA:
I don't hurt everyone. Sometimes I'm nice.

KAMUI:
When are you nice to people? Give me one example!

FUUMA:
All right.

*The scene shifts to a different park. FUUMA is approached by a little girl who engages him in conversation.*

GIRL:
You shouldn't sleep here! There have been a lot of earthquakes lately, and a building could fall on you.

FUUMA:
That's so cute of you to be worried. Let me repay your concern. *He buys four cans of drink from a vending machine.

GIRL:
Why do you drink so much canned tea?

FUUMA:
Product placement.

GIRL:
Ummm... okay. Look at my plushy frog!

FUUMA:
*plays with frog, thus sparking a weird fandom obsession for the thing* Here comes your mother. The two of you should hurry now and get out of here.

GIRL:
Why?

FUUMA:
Because it is your wish.

*GIRL leaves.*

FUUMA:
Because you do not wish to die yet.

[When You Wish Upon A Star - Leigh Harline and Ned Washington]

FUUMA:
When you wish upon a star,
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires will come to you

If your heart is in your dreams
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star as dreamers do

Fate is kind, she brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true!

FUUMA:
See?

KAMUI:
That song is disturbing on way too many levels.

HOKUTO:
Just like Fuuma. Oh well. Getting back on track, in the lead-up to the final days, many of the people involved began to question where their allegiances were lying. Among them were the android Nataku, whose change of heart led to his unfortunate demise, and my moronic near-brother-in-law, who never WOULD listen.

*The scene changes and NATAKU is lying, impaled by the Shinken, at FUUMA's feet. At the other end of the stage, SUBARU holds SEISHIROU in his arms as the man bleeds out, SUBARU's arm thrust through his chest. In true operatic (and musical) fashion however, NATAKU gets to sing an entire song before he finally dies. SEISHIROU merely whispers in SUBARU's ear while SUBARU sings along with NATAKU, in a strange duet of killer and victim. But which is which, really?*

[Break Me – Jewel]

SUBARU and NATAKU (to SEISHIROU and FUUMA):
I will meet you
In some place
Where the light lends itself
To soft repose
I will let you undress me
But I warn you
I have thorns
Like any rose

And you could hurt me
With your bare hands
You could hurt me
With with the sharp end
Of what you say
But I'm lost to you now
And there's no
Amount of reason
That could save me
So break me
Take me
Just let me
Feel your arms again
Break me
I'll let you make me
Just let me
Feel your love again

Feels like being underwater
Now that I've let go
And lost control
Water kisses fill my mouth
Water fills my soul

So break me
Take me
Just let me
Feel your arms again
Break me
Make me
Just let me
Feel your love again

Kiss me once
Or maybe twice
Oh, it never felt so nice
So break me
Take me
Just let me
Feel your arms again
Break me
Make me
Just let me
Feel your arms again
Just let me
Feel your love again

HOKUTO:
Other casualties mounted, including Keiichi's parents, and Daisuke (or Saiki), Seiichirou's young nephew.

*The scene changes again, and this time it is SEIICHIROU cradling DAISUKE'S body, with KAREN and HINOTO in the background. As DAISUKE dies, he sings to HINOTO, while SEIICHIROU sings to KAREN and SAIKI both.*

[Glory of Love - Peter Cetera]

Tonight it's very clear
As we're both lying here
There's so many things I want to say
I will always love you
I would never leave you alone

Sometimes I just forget
Say things I might regret
It breaks my heart to see you crying
I don't wanna lose you
I could never make it alone

I am the man who will fight for your honor
I'll be the hero you're dreaming of
We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

You keep me standing tall
You help me through it all
I'm always strong when you're beside me
I have always needed you
I could never make it alone

I am the man who will fight for your honor
I'll be the hero you've been dreaming of
We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

Just like a knight in shining armor
From a long time ago
Just in time I will save the day
Take you to my castle far away

I am the man who will fight for your honor
I'll be the hero that you're dreaming of
We're gonna live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

We'll live forever
Knowing together that we
Did it all for the glory of love

We did it all for love
We did it all for love
We did it all for love
We did it all for love

*As the song ends, HINOTO is revealed to be DARK HINOTO.*

HOKUTO:
With the ranks of the Dragons being whittled relentlessly away, tensions climbing, buildings falling and kekkais being broken, the Final Day was near to dawning. The scene is now the day before the Final Day, when the two forces must battle to the end. Each side knows now that this is the End. And so, let's get them all out here for one last grande finale.

*The remaining Dragons of Heaven and Earth assemble on stage, mixing freely with each other. YUZURIHA and KUSANAGI hold each other's hands, SORATA gazes at ARASHI, who is standing off near KANOE. YUUTO seems relaxed, as does FUUMA. KAMUI, KAKYOU and SUBARU are competing for the title of "Most Depressed Bishonen On Stage", while SEIICHIROU merely looks determined. KAREN and SATSUKI both look vaguely disturbed by recent events. On either side of the stage, DARK HINOTO and KANOE stand.

The music starts...*

[To the tune of One Day More - Les Miserables - Schonberg, Boublil, Kretzmer, Natel, Nunn, and Caird]

KAMUI:
One day more!
Another day, another destiny.
This never-ending road to purgatory;
They tell me that now comes the time,
Can I commit this awful crime?
One day more!

KAREN:
I did not live until today.
How can I live when we are parted?

KAMUI:
One day more.

YUZURIHA and KUSANAGI:
Tomorrow you'll be worlds away
And yet with you, my world has started!

SUBARU:
One more day all on my own.

YUZURIHA and KUSANAGI:
Will we ever meet again?

SUBARU:
One more day with him not caring.

YUZURIHA and KUSANAGI:
I was born to be with you.

SUBARU:
What a life I might have known.

YUZURIHA and KUSANAGI:
And I swear I will be true!

SUBARU:
But he never saw me there!

FUUMA:
One more day before the storm!

KAKYOU:
Do I follow where he goes?

SORATA:
Man the barricades of freedom!

ARASHI:
Shall I join my fellows there?

FUUMA:
When our ranks begin to form

KAKYOU:
Do I stay; and do I dare?

SORATA:
Will you take your place with me?

ALL:
The time is now, the day is here

KAMUI:
One day more!

KANOE:
One more day to revolution,
I will watch it bloom with glee!
We will crush these little schoolboys,
We will have the victory!

KAMUI:
One day more!

DARK HINOTO:
Watch them run amuck,
See them as they fall,
None of them have luck
And it's a free for all,
Here a little `hint'
There a little `nudge'
Most of them are goners
So they won't miss much!

DRAGONS OF EARTH (1), DRAGONS OF HEAVEN (2):
1: One day to a new beginning
2: Raise the flag of freedom high!
1: We will destroy everyone!
2: We will protect everyone!
1: There's a new world for the winning...
2: There's a new world to be won!

ALL:
Do you hear the people sing?

ARASHI: *to SORATA*
My place is here, I fight with you!

KAMUI:
One day more!

YUZURIHA and KUSANAGI:
I did not live until today

SUBARU:
One more day all on my own!

YUZURIHA and KUSANAGI:
How can I live when we are parted?

DARK HINOTO (overlapping):
I will join these foolish heros
I will watch them where they go
I will learn their little Secrets,
I will know the things they know.

KAMUI:
One day more!

YUZURIHA and KUSANAGI:
Tomorrow you'll be worlds away

SUBARU:
What a life I might have known!

YUZURIHA and KUSANAGI:
And yet with you my world has started

KANOE (overlapping):
One more day to revolution,
I will watch it bloom with glee!
We will crush these little children...

DARK HINOTO (overlapping):
Watch them run amuck,
See them as they fall,
None of them have luck
And it's a free for all...

KAMUI:
Tomorrow I must find a way!

FUUMA:
Tomorrow is the judgement day!

ALL:
Tomorrow we'll discover
What the Earth and Heaven have in store!
One more dawn
One more day
ONE DAY MORE!!!

*The two forces stand united as one, and the curtain closes.*

End

Final Author's Notes:

At last the End! For a while I considered doing an Act Four: The Final Act, but I just couldn't face it. I don't know how the story will end, and I'm beginning to think that Clamp don't know either :-(. I've seen the movie version (waahh...), I've seen the TV version (better but still waaahhh...) and I have my own theories (WAAAHHH!!!). I've written my own ending of it once in an AU fic, and I really don't want to do it again, as it was far too depressing. So I thought I would end on the most impressive song I could think of, which opens up some hope regarding the resolution of the story. Les Miserables has been one of my favourite musicals for a long, long time, and I felt that One More Day was a good way to end the story, as it leaves a lot of possibilities open. Yes I'm nervous about this and defending my decision in advance :-). Ah well. C&C as always is welcome. Flames will be put out by Yuuto, and offenders will be dealt with by Beast.
