Hi - you made it to Ian's kites page

...A project that keept me off the streets, KITE MAKING

A quick surf around the net on a wet afternoon revealed a wealth of information on kite making. There are shedloads of plans too!

So, I decided to make a small, indoor/light wind, stunt kite; the one in the photograph to be precise.

The stunt kite I already have needs a cyclone before it gets off the ground and although Auckland is the City of Sails we don't always get those heavy winds. So its out with the sewing machine. I'll let you know how I get on.

OK -- I know you are just itching to know how it went. Well just don't ask my wife. She had to put up with the cursing as various stages didn't quite go according to plan. However the thing is made now and I'm just waiting for some light winds to fly it in. It looks like it will fly and so I guess that's a start.
