GENEALOGY
Well this is our latest project
I blame Bill myself --- and his lovely wife. -- They started it!!! -- Carol and I have begun the computerised version of the family tree. So all the rellies can expect lots of requests for information, documents, photographs and anything else we can get them to part with temporarily.
Bill has been really kind and let us have some time on his scanner (promise I'll get one soon mate!) and there are some examples below of what we have achieved in archiving some of the photos and documents.

| This photograph is of my Grandfather in Desert Uniform somewhere between Basra and Baghdad. It was taken during the time he was serving in the Hampshire Regiment. The annotation on the reverse of the photo is my Father's note. The aim will now be to find out just a little of the WW1 campaign in North Africa. |

Demob Certificate ..............................Hampshire Regiment Postcard

The reverse of the Hampshire Regiment Postcard - the postmark is 23rd Dec 1916
Next task is to look out some books on the campaign in North Africa. On that I have found referenced is:
THE BASTARD WAR; THE MESOPOTAMIAN CAMPAIGN PEACE TO END ALL PEACE BARKER, A.J. FROMKIN, DAVID
According to the reviewer "This was a very grim area of operations."
(If anyone knows of a copy or has inormation on the North African campaign please contact me
I managed to find a map of the times which covers the theatre of operations

So as we get some more info we'll update this page.
Here are some useful links for anyone wanting to look into the history of the Great War:
