Outdoor dining, sun bathing, creative privacy where year round contrast elements were taken into account when designing the gardens around Huntaway Lodge and Retreat. On a steep and challenging site, the plantings blend into the surrounding landscape .

The gardens contain a mixture of native and exotic plantings interspersed with local basalt boulders. The Gardenias and star jasmine provide amazing scent whilst the native flaxes are a haven for tui’s and other birdlife. We have started to cultivate a small fruit / citrus area whilst endeavouring to grow our own herbs and assorted vegetables.

Both gardens were designed by Northland’s most celebrated landscape gardener, Jonathan Fulton of Fulton Landscaping.
