SATIRE

The first poem (Susan) I wrote while reflecting deeply just two days before she tragically lost her life ... never thinking she would never return from a family call to a Waikato Hospital bedside.

Susan

The most beautiful part of my life
is you
Nature’s pleased you
and you please Nature.

When you smile
I, smile at least within,
your wit’s your own
though not alone enjoyed.

I sense your growth
feel deep your heartache
love your soul
and, all that’s been bared to me.

You, are the most beautiful part of my life,
like sunsets bring dawns,
flowers their fruits,
life’s so richer knowing you.

Love  Daniel

The Tui.

Susan and I shared a special  evolving love
she was my best friend … a soulmate.
I love her dearly, such a privilege to know her so well.
Susan, like I enjoyed tranquility, being close to Nature
and, we at times were reclusive that way together.
She also took a keen interest in making Point of View  ...
more beautiful in it’s harmony with Nature … including the native bird life
around us.
Susan had said … if she could ever come back as a bird it would be as a
Tui, she loved their sweet singing morning to evening and planted
trees they particularly liked for their nectar.
High up and towards the front of Point of View ...  is a Lookout area
with birds eye views overlooking the meandering Kaipara River and harbour.
Susan has planted Agapanthis around this picturesque lookout and also
flowering Flame trees for the Tui.
With others, I am fully developing this panoramic lookout area as an
eternal memory of irreplaceable Susan.
It will be made accessible ...  for ever  …  Susan’s Rest … a tranquil place for calm
and reflection  ...  where Tui will sing and Nature can reassure …  Susan’s, part of all.

Ka kite ano

A Tui at Point of View

Past all the rest.

This, will be a different season
a time of real change
that’s never been around before
and, never will again.

Some rises passed the highest
some sets below the rest
a real want of calmness
like found on the breast.

Dawn’s alive and rising
one choice the midday’s slowed
the crest of all that rises
comes once, before it goes.

This, will be a different season
a time of real change
that’s never been around before
to be ever shared the same.

Some highs may pass those highest
some lows may pass the best
together alone being as one
a time past all the rest.

Dawn’s alive and rising
in choice the midday’s slowed
the crest of all that’s rising
comes once before it goes

This, is a different season
a time of real change
that’s never been around before
and, never can again.

Finality's infinity

To be true,
there's never
a right moment
for this sort of grief,
seldom ever
the right good bye,
life can heal
but never remove
these scars
they're too deep
too close too soon
too final and
too much for now,
but, after all
there was sunshine
before those storms
flowers and warming hands
dew drops to singing tui,
love, seemed so around,
now and only just,
just again,
there’s warm days
storm days gray days
fair days and light,
sunshine some days
and sunshine some nights,
warm smiles warm eyes
living and life,
all different from yesterdays
for the rest of all whiles,
such a sad and beautiful World.

Aroha ... Daniel .
