SATIRE

Should I

Should a man, such as I
be bothered at all
bothered at all
when the apricots fall
or wallow and swallow
in self pity and pride
when millions are homeless
no quality lives
and people are dying
from aids like flies
gone on too soon
into that night.

Should a man, such as I
be bothered at all
bothered at all
when church bells toll
and preachers preach
their words of light!
Condoms are out
every sperm's a life
no matter about
new homeless ones
the scourge of aids
genetic puns
or environmental damage
from over reproduction,
these preachers preach
self destruction
and the bells toll on
towards that night.

Should a man, such as I
be bothered at all
bothered at all
when nature calls
and gives fair warning
of impending strife
if collective thought
shuns her might
as we drift
in our eternity.

Should I, be bothered
bothered at all?
I --- hope so!
