Endings
There's a time and place
deep friend
for total pondering
shorelines to revere
current tides flee on.
Night lingers
on beyond this pulse of life
there's a time and place
that comes my friend.
Sand-lines feign they're longer now
in shorter spans between,
I know! I tread the sunset shifts
to shun these lengths and dream.
Young life afresh on foreshores
recreate much older games
smug beneath Pohutukawa limbs
where smoky bonfires glowed.
There's a time and place
for everything that ends.
