It was well into the second week of the school
holidays, and the only thing that was on my mind was the feelers gig. It was going to my
first feelers experiance (indoors) by themselves, with a supporting act.
The show officially started at 7:30 pm, and a really crappy band, i think they were local,
started it of. I don't know who the heck they were but they sucked!! I couldn't even hear
a single word they said, yet alone their music was awful!! Anyway Stellar* was next to
come on. When Boh Runga walked on stage everyone was cheering her on. She rocked!!
Stellar* played about 6 or 7 songs including their lastest single "Part of me"
which is really good. They also played "What you do" which was their first song.
Boh also remembered to take photo's of the crowd for her mum, who apparently collects
everything. Good on you Boh!!!
Anyway, it was like 8:15 when Stellar* finished and everyone was getting excited about the
feelers. People already started crowdsurfing, all sorts of lights were focussed onto the
stage and just they just couldn't wait. I don't blame them because i couldn't wait
either!! Then, the guys finally came out and there was this huge roar of people cheering
them on, people screaming, the whole lot. The band started of with "Friend"
which is one of my personal favourites. They then went onto playing a few *new*, yes some
new songs of theirs, that kinda had a new flavour to it. If you know what i mean. Then the
guys played "Pressure Man" which rocked the house!! Everyone and i mean everyone
was jumping around to it, coz it was just such a cool song, espec. with Matttt's bass.
Anyway half way through the show, Dark Tower showed up and did a little 'rap' part or
whatever you call it, and were singing "Dark Tower's in the house with the
feelers". Then James wearing the red shirt he wore to the NZ Music Awards and Matt
wearing a shirt that had a big huge '3' on it (mostly James) were doing a little hand
movement (the rap sorta movement) themselves to the rap. That was pretty cool. When
"Venus" came on, everyone knew the words to it and were singing along with
James, he didn't even have to sing because the crowd was so loud!!! Then James played a
little 'acoustic set', he only played a maximum of 2-3 songs, that were fairly new but
they were really deep, yet nice songs. Some other songs they played from their album were:
Supersystem, Space Cadet, Honey God, From Space with Love, The Leaving, Float and
Satellite.
The guys finished the show with their latest song "Pull the strings" which was a
blast!! James did his ever popular 'disco type, 70's' dance, as he always does, with so
much energy and words cannot explain it. You really have to be there to know what i mean.
At the very end, James left first, then Matttt left after having a little fun with Tim's
guitar(yes Tim S was there, he did his brilliant part for the feelers too that night) then
Tim left, and Hamish was left to finish of the show. He finished the show alright,
with some brilliant drumming of his to calm the crowd down. However everyone loved
his drumming so much we cheered him on even more, and he seemed pretty pleased and was
enjoying it too!!!
Well, that was my first feelers gig ( the showed finished at around 11pm), on a scale from
1-10 i would give it a 20!!! With a another album coming up soon *hopefully* i am
definatly going to another one of their gig's.
