July 1998

Rotary Club of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky started Rotary year 1998-1999 with noble mission July 1, 1998. Rotary Assembly in Chita called Yakutsk region nature calamity zone and appeal for help was forwarded to world and Rotary community. Our club held auction and collected $500.00 and $350.00 sent to Yakutsk Region with Vise Governor Vladimir Donskoy.

In July 1998 we collected and arranged delivery of humanitarian cargo of apples and pears (total cost of cargo is about $150.00) to multi children families from Northern Minorities Association in Anavgay settlement, Bystrinsky Region of Kamchatka.

August 1998

In August 1998 our club helped to arrange travelling itinerary for modern dance theater “Contrasts” that attended international session of modern vanguard dance “Dvizhenie-98” in Yaroslavl. Modern dance troupe “Contrasts” took 1^st place among similar groups. New York ballet master Nancy Zendor who visited Kamchatka in order to work with this talented group of female dancers prepared one of the troupe’s compositions. We donated $1,100.00 to sponsor travelling and promotion of group “Contrasts” that became our friends.

We took part in joint charity event initiated by Center of National Cultures of Kamchatka to deliver humanitarian aid to low income families in removed settlements of Central Kamchatka in Ust-Kamchatsky, Milkovo, Ust-Bolsheretsky and Bistrinsky Regions in August 1998. Rotoract successfully is continuing this project collecting things for children of Esso. The Rotarians and Rotoract members collected over 30 boxes with books, toys and clothing and

Member of our club Valentina Vishnitcskaya took part in the concert performance during the trip to various regional centers.
