ROTARY DISTRICT 1700 Clothing and essentials for an old pensioners home ,medicines and produce for 2 childrens homes and French books for a Cultural Centre in Timisoare..While a Doctor from the R C d'Auch-Armagnac has provided medical equipment for a heart unit ,medical beds ,medicines ,and a dentist chair all for use in Timisoare
OPTHALMIC TRAINING and EQUIPMENT by means of in house training and equipment and reference books for the eye unit have all been supplied by D1700 Rotary clubs and individual Rotarians ….
DISTRICT 3480 TAIPEI TAIWAN supplied surgical and medical equipment to a Government hospital through the R C of Craiova .
THE ROTARY CLUB OF IASI in association with the ROTARY CLUB OF DERBY SOUTH (UK)D1220 worked to establish the ROTARY CLUB OF CHISINAU ,the first Rotary club in the adjacent Moldavian Republic, which received its charter on 20 May 1998.
INTER COUNTRY COMMITTEE established between Rotary Clubs of France and Romania does a significant amount of work ,much of which is directed at seeing French being reintroduced ,taught and reestablished as the most important modern foreign language taught in Romania. This project has an ambitious aim to see Romania become a bilingual country ,capable of speaking Romanian …….and yes you guessed it …obviously French …
Statistics published in le Rotarien suggest that in the 1995/96 year …
2,141,000 secondary school students studied French ,whereas 1,389,000
studied English ..Although clearly French still attracts the greatest
number of students ,relatively speaking ,students seeking to learn
English increased by 11% compared to 1993/94 statistics ,whereas those
seeking French tuition increased by just under 5% in that period .
