FAQ
Q: Whenever I tell the visual mode to randomize, I trigger
a runtime "76" error. What is this error?
A: When you unzipped WTG you didnt keep the folder information. This means that all files
were just put into a single folder. To work properly the WTG directory should have 4 sub directories off it (Agri, Dead, Desert and Ice). Every unzipping program varies but they usually have similar options. In Winzip you have to tick "Use folder names" after you click the extract button on the screen where you choose the directory to unzip.
Q: WTG is too big for the screen, what
can I do?.
A: WTG needs a minimum screen resolution of 1024x768 to run
effectively. Both the regular and visual terrain generators take up a
lot of real estate so without major reprogramming they cannot be
resized. I will however redesign the WTG interface to fit the screen
better in the next release.
Q: When generating terrain in the
visual terrain mode I get either black boxes or bits of the Windows GUI
added onto the board, why is this?
A: To work properly, all 3 pink boxes at the bottom of the
visual mode screen must be entirely visible, if there is anything in
front of them (or they are off the screen) WTG will draw that
instead.
Make sure the pink boxes are clear and then click the "Redraw Table"
button.
Q: I get a "Component 'COMDLG32.OCX or
one of its dependencies is not
correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid" or something
similar when I try to run
the
main executable.
A: Download comdlg32.ocx
and copy it into the \Windows\System32 directory, its roughly 140kb, if
you are running Win 2k or you have a non standard windows directory put
it in the appropriate directory for your installation.
Then, open the run
dialog box using "Start | Run..." and enter "Regsvr32
c:\windows\system32\comdlg32.ocx" to register the it.
You might need to change the windows path or drive letter to suit your
system setup. It seems
there are many versions of comdlg32.ocx so if that one doesnt work for
you (it should), do a search for another version. Google is your friend
Q: How many terrain pieces can I
generate and how many terrain images
can I store in Wargame Terrain Generator?
A: You can generate up to 1000 terrain pieces in total on a single
board, good luck getting them all to fit in though. WTG can hold 999
terrain images of each type, so "Sml 1.bmp" to "Sml 999.bmp" will work
etc.
Q: I want to create a Batrep image for
a game I have already played. I
know the positions of the terrain, is there an easy way I can use WTG
to create an image for my game.
A: You can either set all pieces manually using the "Set Terrain"
function of WTG or you can write your own save file. Then
allocate the
images to the terrain pieces in the visual terrain generator.
