Our "Over the Top" journey

Ladakh is the northernmost and highest region of India and its barren mountainous landscapes are breathtaking. Our 3 week journey takes us from the foothills of the Himalayas up to Leh, a city perched on the roof of the world. We will experience many aspects of Buddhist and mountain culture as we travel one of the most rugged and highest roads in the world.

After a day in sweltering Delhi we take a short train journey to the Punjabi town of Kalka where we meet our bikes. We then take the winding road alongside the toy train route up to the historic hill station of Simla where we will be based for 2 days giving time to explore the extraordinary colonial edifices and maze of bazaars clinging to the ridge upon which Shimla town is built. From Simla we set off up the rarely travelled and spectacular Satluj Valley to the remote town of Sangla where we spend a night under canvas and a night in a temple guest house. From here we climb up through apple and pear orchards to the Jolori Pass and then down to Manali town.

Two nights are spent here preparing for the climb up through the Rhotang pass and further on to the Tibetan Plateau and Tanglang La Pass at 5400 Metres above sea level. The roads on this section are truly spectacular and we will base ourselves in Leh for several days taking an overnight trip to the Dahanu Valley and Lamayuru monastery. We will also take a journey over the worlds highest motor able pass, Khardang La at 5600 metres, higher than Everest Base Camp and after the compulsory pics, we leave the day trippers behind and descend into the Nubra Valley to the village of Disket where we spend the night. We then return over Khardang to Leh for a farewell dinner and packing for our flight back to Delhi.

The Ladakh ride requires a high level of fitness and edndurance and is only suitable for experienced riders. At this stage we only offer this tour to our past clients with a good level of riding skill.
