If you intend to make a submission then the above and comments below may be helpful
We believe that the bill is fatally flawed.
- During this period no third party can conduct propose , print , distribute
an election advertisement – a third party is any organization that intends to spend more than
$5000 on what the Bill defines as election advertising in the election period.
- Encourages people to vote or not vote for parties or candidates
- Publication of an election advertisement means paying for space in a newspaper
or for radio time , but also includes , for example posting a letter , sending an email ,
putting material on a non-personal internet site , making a placard and handing out a flyer.
- What problems this will cause as far as opinion pieces in the LSQ are concerned
we have yet to clarify – it could refer to articles and also to letters to the editor.
- When we have advice we will contact you but in the meantime we recommend
you have a look at section 4 & 5 of the bill as it could materially affect the conduct
of your organization and your meetings.
