We are a small Maine Coon breeding cattery located in North Canterbury, Rangiora area. We can ship and have sent our kittens to all areas of NZ as well as overseas. We specialise in silvers and we also breed browns, blues, creams and reds. We breed polydactyl, or mitten paw Maine Coons who have extra toes on their paws, as well as the usual toed Maine coons. Our Maine Coon cats live in the house with us including the kittens. They are pets first and breeding cats second.
In designing our breeding program we never lose sight of the importance of good temperament and we select cats with the best natures when we choose which cats to keep as breeding cats. We are also very particular about the health of the cats we breed with, and have recently updated the site to show all the cats' health testing results. All our breeding cats are tested clear for hip dysplasia, clear for the HCM gene found in Maine Coons and are clear for signs of HCM in regular heart scans.
It has been brought to our attention that there are breeders who state that they test but don't. Please make sure you ask to see the test results of the parents and preferably the grandparents. Help improve the breed - insist you buy a kitten from parents who are tested and are clear for any possible health problems. (This applies to all breeds of cats, not just Maine coons) |
